Cannabidiol vs Marijuana

Cannabidiol is the second most prevalent cannabinoid in cannabis. It is commercially derived from the hemp plant but also found in marijuana. Hemp is a unique type of cannabis that does not produce significant levels of THC. Unlike marijuana, cannabidiol and hemp will not get you high.

Is CBD Right for You?

It is possible (but not conclusive) that the benefits of cannabidiol may help with your health concerns. There is growing research suggesting that cannabidiol can have health benefits.

For instance, CBD is more effective than vitamin C and E as a neuroprotective antioxidant and can ameliorate skin conditions such as acne.

Cannabidiol may benefit pain, inflammation, and some mood disorders. If you have problems like those it may be that CBD for you is beneficial. According to the research paper by Scott Shannon, et al.:

The activity of CBD at 5-HT1A receptors may drive its neuroprotective, antidepressive, and anxiolytic benefits, although the mechanism of action by which CBD decreases anxiety is still unclear. CBD was shown to be helpful for decreasing anxiety through a simulated public speaking test at doses of 300 mg to 600 mg in single-dose studies.

Is CBD Right for You and Your Safety?

It depends! With some people, CBD can cause nausea, irritability, and fatigue. Cannabidiol has also shown to increase levels of coumadin which is a blood thinner. The biggest concern that doctors have is that most cannabidiol products are sold without FDA approval. CBD also has several known drug interactions to be aware of.

Conclusion

The most important thing to remember when buying CBD products is to do your research. Speak to your doctor to find out if using it is right for you based on your medical history. Always read labels and buy from companies that you trust. Even though thousands of people have benefitted from cannabidiol products like oils over the years the science is still catching up.
