Adriana Nole, is a Registered Nurse, and the founder of The Bitchie Hippie- a whole flower, CBD skincare company. As a nurse, Adriana has worked in healthcare (primarily pediatrics) since 2002. A proud chicana and brilliant product maker, Adriana’s career and business are based out of Fresno, CA, where she creates amazing blends while cultivating amazing partnerships with other Latina’s in the industry.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Adriana, for the hemp industry leaders column. Check out the interview below.

Please tell me about your specialty/ area of focus in nursing?

“I’ve worked in healthcare almost 20 years, with the last 10 years as a NICU RN (neonatal intensive care unit). I recently started working in the home care setting with pediatrics”.

You partner with the Botanical Joint for CBD consultations due to your healthcare expertise, can you share more insight into that partnership?

Partnering with the Botanical Joint was easy because I know with the owner Sue, and know about the flower she cultivates. Before the partnership and still, I consume and use both for medicine, and business. I love that I can use my background in nursing to help people in a way I can’t in the traditional healthcare setting. We’re both Latina-owned businesses, which is pretty rare in this industry, especially as a farmer. Plus, she moved nearby last summer, which means local business support. Working together just makes sense”.

Why do you, as a registered nurse, believe in CBD for medical treatment?

My own personal experience with cannabis, particularly CBD, has been life changing. For years I’ve had elevated inflammatory markers on my blood tests, due to chronic inflammation from rheumatoid arthritis. I also have fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, and migraines.

After making some healthier food choices, and incorporating CBD into my daily routine, I had significantly less pain days, and was living a much more productive life. Eventually my labs improved enough that my rheumatologist suggested I stay on the regimen I’ve made for myself, along with prescription NSAIDS for severe flare ups.

The FDA recently approved the first prescription CBD medication Epidiolex, for the treatment of seizures in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, Dravet syndrome, and tuberous sclerosis complex. We're finally seeing CBD being used for medical treatment, and that’s exciting”.

Your company, The Bitchie Hippie focuses on whole flower products- why, and can you speak on the benefits of whole flower use in products?

Cannabis works in a synergistic way referred to as “entourage effect” when used in its natural form. Raw hemp flower is not only rich in CBD, but also packed with chlorophyll, phytonutrients, and other things that happen to be great for our skin. From anti-aging, to anti acne benefits, using whole hemp flower in my products is a must. The American Cannabis Nurses Association also recognizes the importance of whole plant cannabis”.
