Does Delta 8 Make You High?

Worry not, fellow cannabis lovers; delta 8 will make you high! Now, the high isn't as potent as, say, our regular weed (which contains delta-9 THC). But, it's still a great choice and, if not even better than regular delta-9 THC.

Does D8 THC affect CB1 receptors?

The endocannabinoid system has two major receptors, CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are distributed throughout the central nervous system, while CB2 receptors are found throughout the peripheral nervous system, the gastrointestinal tract, and the immune cells. So, how does delta-8 THC affect these receptors? Well, delta-9 THC is a partial agonist for both CB1 and CB2 receptors. In other words, its high affinity towards these receptors tends to result in the mediation of one's mood, consciousness, ability to feel pain, etc. However, the effects produced by delta 8 products differ from delta-9 as D8 THC has a stronger affinity towards the CB2 receptors. On the other hand, d8 thc binds weakly to CB1 receptors.

So, how does this affect your high? Since CB2 receptors are associated with the peripheral nervous system, users are likely to experience a more physical high, including benefits like appetite stimulation, reduced pain, and inflammation.

How Long Does a Delta 8 High Last?

In a previous article, I discussed how long does delta-8 THC stays in your system. Here I covered everything from how long does a delta 8 high last to how long loges THC stays in your system.

While d8 THC does get you high, it's essential to keep in mind that many factors determine how long its effects will last. For example, a veteran marijuana user who uses potent weed (containing D9 THC) may find that the impact of a delta-8 high only lasts 30 to 40 minutes. On the other hand, a person trying D8 products for the first time may notice the effects lasting for more than 60 to 90 minutes.

If you're used to smoking traditional THC, you may find the effects and high produced by delta 8 flowers to be slightly different. Now there are several factors to account for when determining how long a d8 THC high would last.

  1. What's the delta 8 THC product? When consumed, delta 8 THC edibles are catabolized by the liver and slowly released into the bloodstream. This results in a slower onset of effects but longer duration (the high lasts a lot longer). In contrast, if you use a vape cartridge or smoke raw delta 8 flowers, THC metabolites enter the blood directly, resulting in a high of 30 to 50 minutes.
  2. Your d8 THC product potency: The potency of a d8 THC product will play a significant role in determining how long a delta-8 high will last. If you purchase d8 products containing high THC levels, expect more potent and long-lasting effects.
  3. Your tolerance to regular THC: Those who smoke and/or use traditional THC (delta-9) regularly will find that high produced by d8 THC lasts anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes. First-time weed users will notice that their high will last a lot longer.
